A very committed TKF ‘A’ Squad travelled to Bradford to compete at the Wado-UK Open Championships. Representing TKF was Cody Gedge, Cameron Panday, Ellie-Rose Fyfe, Izzy Brown, Katie Middleton, Rohan Panday and Doug Middleton.

This is one of the first domestic competitions to introduce the new points system for kata which is being used by international competitions ahead of the Olympic Games, this didn’t throw our young team kata competitors which consisted of our female competitors Katie Middleton, Izzy Brown and Ellie-Rose Fyfe. They performed a brilliant Gojushiho Sho and managed to come away with a silver medal. Ellie Rose and Cody then teamed up shortly after and managed to claim another successive silver medal with a good performance of the kata, Empi.

TKF weren’t finished when then individual events came about. Rohan Panday managed to claim a gold medal for his event with a brilliant Gojushiho sho winning by a small margin on points. Cameron Panday came away with a silver medal and in the same category, James Leveridge was really unlucky to miss out on a bronze medal coming forth. Izzy Brown put in a solid performance and coming away with a bronze medal in her category, Katie and Ellie followed with a 4th and 5th place respectively.

Cody Gedge didn’t manage medal despite putting on a good display in his kumite bout and Doug Middleton showed a great level of courage to step up his game and compete at a higher-level veterans category.
