TKF can proudly boast that we now have not one, but two JKS WORLD CHAMPIONS training at our club!!

In an international competition held by one of the biggest and most recognised karate associations IN THE WORLD, with over 1,000 competitors and over 30 different nations coming together in Dublin, Ireland, the TKF representatives came away with a massive haul of 5 gold medals and a silver medal. Helping the JKS England Squad come second OVERALL in the medal table with just one gold medal shy from topping the table behind the Japan team.

Travelling to Ireland was Cameron Panday, Cody Gedge, Henry Pegge and Matthew Yardy. In a massive arena containing all the nationalities it was always going to be a tough competition. Cameron managed to start the day brightly after helping his team win gold becoming Team Kata World Champions. Cameron kept up his great form to bag a place in the final before, taking second place to one of his fellow JKS England team mates, Louis Powell, taking a silver medal. Matthew was unlucky and missed out on a place in the Quarter final by one flag against an opponent who went on to win the bronze medal.

Sunday proved to be an even better day after Cody and Henry both managed to help their teams become Team Kumite World Champions in their respective age categories. Cody continued his fine form in his individual kumite event, managing to claim his place in the kumite final after 6 fights. Coming against a tough competitor, he fought courageously with some well-timed counter attacks to claim his title as World Champion. Henry dominated his rounds, with some brilliant sweeps, take downs and head kicks, before becoming World Champion in the kumite final against his fellow JKS England team mate Sam Peacock. A great performance by all.

A massive well done goes to;

Henry Pegge 🥇🥇 (Gold and World Champion Individual Kumite and Team Kumite)
Cody Gedge 🥇🥇 (Gold and World Champion Individual Kumite and Team Kumite)
Cameron Panday 🥈🥇 (Silver Individual and Gold Team Kata/World Champions)
