Sunday 24th June saw another competition for our gifted JKS England squad representatives which was held in Worcester. Again, this was an event where some of the top athletes come to compete for the medals in a highly anticipated and fierce competition.
As always, the kata categories were first and Rohan Panday was one of the first TKF members to compete, he managed to perform well to earn a place in the quarter finals and just missed out on a semi-final place. Cameron Panday managed to help his team kata earn a bronze medal before working his way to the final of his individual kata category. Performing a brilliant Gankaku in the final, he came away with a solid 3-0 win to earn a gold medal. James Leveridge and Matthew Yardy just missed out on progressing to the next rounds in their respective categories with narrow 2-1 losses.
Cody Gedge was TKFs only kumite representative in the JKS Squad with Henry Pegge being absent. Cody managed help his team progress to the final of the Team Kumite event after some fantastic kicks to the body in the lead up to the final. Unfortunately, the other team, managed to snatch the gold medal and Cody’s team settled for the silver medal. Cody was unlucky in his individual fight as he was unable to replicate the form from his team fights especially against experienced fighters.
