TKF took a small squad to the West Midlands Karate Open Championships in Cannock on Sunday 8th September. It proved to be a tough competition with plenty of experienced competitors taking part in this competition.
The TKF Squad still managed to come away with a hard-earned silver and two bronze medals. Olly Howell Hoye managed to perform some solid katas to earn his place in the final for his age category. Managing to perform an advanced kata as well he came away with a silver medal in the end. Shortly before the kata event, he also managed to claim a bronze medal in Kickmaster beating a number of opponents showing good kumite skills against a standing target. Oliver Curtis performed well in his lower grade category to bring home a bronze medal for kata.
Special mentions go to the other competitors, Edward Copsey, Max Tilson, Edward Cushing, Ellie-Rose Fyfe and TJ Greene who all put in some solid performances in their respective categories for kata and kumite. The main thing is they have a lot to take away from this experience and will use this to further improve their competition experience.
